National Mental Health Expert joins a vibrant leadership role following a significant transition to 988 Lifeline
Vibrant Emotional Health (Vibrant), the nonprofit officer of the National 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (988 Lifeline), has announced the appointment of Dr. Tia Doll as Chief 988 Suicide & Crisis Officer, reporting to Kimberly Williams, President and CEO. A seasoned clinical psychologist and nonprofit leader, Dr. Dole will oversee Lifeline 988’s strategic vision and direction, expand relationships with key stakeholders, and advance Lifeline 988’s vision, scope, scale, and impact during an unprecedented period of transformation of the mental health system.
Dr. Doll joins Vibrant with more than 20 years of leadership in mental and emotional health care, most recently as Executive Director of The Steve Fund, the nation’s only organization focused on the mental health of youth of color. In addition, Dr. Doll has served as Chief of Clinical Operations for The Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ+ youth.

As administrator of the 988 Lifeline (formerly the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline), and other nationally recognized services including the Disaster Helpline, NFL Life Line, and NYC Well, Vibrant’s primary mission is to provide practical services and resources to those who need them. . With the move to 988 in July 2022, Lifeline has seen an exponential increase in awareness for the line. In the first six months of the new number, from July to December 2022, Lifeline received more than 2.1 million calls, texts, and chats from people looking for support.

Dr. Doll sits on the Congressional Black Mental Health Brain Fund, which was founded by Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman and has worked for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. She is a published author, holds a master’s degree in developmental psychopathology from Columbia University (Teachers College), was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to study forensic psychology, and completed her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Fordham University. Dr. Doll is based in New York/New Jersey.
