Farewell to Dortmund: Three professionals leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer

Once again the BVB faces a major upset. Many contracts expire at the end of the season. Three of them will definitely not be extended.

Dortmund – the future team of Borussia Dortmund It started to take shape slowly but surely. It is said that the poker contract of the best jewel Yusuf Mukoko is about to expire. In addition, BVB plugged the right wing-back hole on Tuesday (17 January) and signed Julian Ryerson from Union Berlin. Now it should also be clear how things will continue with the Dortmund trio in the future.

Farewell to Dortmund: Three professionals leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer

Anthony Modest, Felix Passlack and Rafael Guerrero do not have a future at Borussia Dortmund. Their contracts expire at the end of the season and according to information from sports photo not stretch.

For all three, summer farewells have already been indicated in the past few weeks, but no final decision has been made yet. Until now!

BVB: Anthony Modeste fails for Borussia Dortmund

The end of Anthony Modeste came as no surprise. The 34-year-old came in pre-season as an entirely emergency transfer after Sebastien Haller fell seriously ill. From the start, BVB only had short-term plans with the striker and therefore gave him a one-year contract.

In terms of sports, Anthony Modest hasn’t really been able to bridge the gap that has arisen. In 20 competitive matches, the Frenchman only hit the net twice and managed to score a goal. With the return of Sebastien Haller, he is now only BVB’s number three striker. After all: his last-minute goal in the first leg against Bayern Munich, which was followed by a jubilant explosion in the entire stadium, could no longer be taken away from him.

BVB farewell to Felix Passlack: The veterans were prevented from making a breakthrough at Dortmund

The situation with veteran Felix Passlack is somewhat different. Born in Bottrop, he went through all the youth centers in Dortmund and celebrated countless successes there. He has been part of the BVB professional squad since 2016. However, Felix Paslak has not been able to establish himself in the Senate for a longer period of time.

Borussia Dortmund did not want to part with the local talent for a long time and tried to boost its development with loan deals with TSG Hoffenheim, Norwich City and Fortuna Sittard. However, in the end, that wasn’t enough. Felix Paslac has had almost no chance under coach Edin Terzic.

The 24-year-old has made a total of 33 Bundesliga appearances for BVB in six seasons (two goals and two assists). Perhaps no more will be added after the move of Julian Ryerson to Dortmund.

BVB farewell fixed: Rafael Guerrero has to leave Borussia Dortmund despite impressive stats

The story behind Rafael Guerrero’s impending departure is similarly tragic. In terms of soccer, the Portuguese is probably one of the best players in the Serie A squad. During his seven years at Dortmund, he provided proof time and time again. However, two fundamental factors clearly speak against the future in black and yellow.

On the one hand, his incredibly high injury potential and on the other hand, his defensive play, which was weak at times. The club wants to make a fresh start in this position. Rami Bensebini from Gladbach should be in contact with the BVB.

Rafael Guerrero himself must force himself to change the scenery. His stats are still impressive: to date, the 29-year-old has played a total of 206 times for BVB. During that time, he scored 37 goals and 39 assists.
