Kyle Busch talks about Kevin Harvick’s retirement and casually slips up on a certain age he wants to retire

Kyle Busch has outlined a general plan to leave NASCAR in 2022
Kyle Busch regularly Met with reporters Last season before every race, and every so often, he was the topic of conversation about his uncertain future with Joe Gibbs Racing. In August, before the race at Richmond, the driver talked about his future but with a long-term perspective and how he envisioned his career would play out.
“This situation right now is very important to me and also Kyle Busch Motorsports because wherever that is next – whether it’s Joe Gibbs Racing or someone else – I would like to never have to go through this again,” said Busch.
“I’ve got six, seven, maybe eight more if I play this all out perfect,” he said of his seven-year-old son, “Brixton and I share a van when he’s 16.” “When he’s 16, 17, and then he’s 18, and I’m done. I’m out. So that’s the perfect game.”
Bush sets a specific age he wants to stay away from
These comments from Bush back in Virginia caught the attention of the Rowdy Nation. But they were more general and based on an understandable desire to race his son.
This week while at the Circuit of the Americas testing tires at Goodyear, a reporter asked the two-time Cup Series champion his thoughts on Final retirement announcement for Kevin Harvick. Busch discussed the Stewart-Haas Racing driver’s long career, his accomplishments, and how he’s at the right age to leave, casually dropping back how this is the same age he wants to retire.
“He’s been around for a long time,” Bush said of Harvick. And he’s about that age, you know. 45 years old. That’s kind of the age you look at him, so it’s good for him.
“He’s had a great career. He’s won a championship, many races, all the big races. So much to hang his hat on, I guess you’d say. I’m excited for him to finish his senior year this year and hope he gets out there and wins a couple but we still beat him for the championship.”
There is only one problem with the RCR driver notes. Harvick isn’t 45. He’s 47. In other words, Bush specified the 45 as for him A specific retirement age, as we mentioned, but he ties that age to Harvick.
When will that happen?
Comparing Busch’s recent statements at COTA to what he said last year at Richmond, it’s hard to pinpoint an exact time when he might be away from racing, but it’s likely to be in the seven to 10 year range. That would be anywhere from 44 to 47 years old.
